The sun is hours away from making her grand entrance here in Cabo Mexico, but my mind is still on East Coast time… so here I write. I don’t know what today will bring. Got some major challenges on my doorstep – pesky little bombs. But being with this big Shaklee family is a safe place to take them on.
This is not a usual vacation. Shaklee trips never are. We all get that fact the first day as we gather to chat by the pool with our matching bags. But, its more than that which makes these trips unique. Just a personal observation or two… or more…
Over the years I’ve seen individual legs of power pods being overturned by the arms of a unified connection for a greater good. A great thanks to Facebook for that one. Barriers have been brought down as all year long we see each others posts, like each others accomplishments, support each other on this quest to make the world a better place as we try to survive one more day without crashing into the rubble.
I had grand conversations today with many whose smile I recognized in a Facebook pix - felt like old friends as the awkwardness of “hello – my name is… and who are you?’ was not a part of the equation. More than once I received a neighborhood smile from one who lived a world away just because I ‘liked’ their posts. We all want to help people, save the planet, and have some fairy dust cover us with hope of bigger piggy banks so we don’t have to worry so much about the foreboding clouds on the horizon. We all have our ‘Why” tattooed in our hearts and our indulgences stacked next to the Life Shakes when we get home.
What Facebook misses however is what we get here… the eyes.
The eyes have it. They tell the full story. In them lives the truth. All the pain and pleasure, hopes and longings, aches and comforts shine through. The eyes don’t lie. They cant – those needy little gatekeepers of the soul let it all hang out. They keep us real.
I had some beautiful eyes today take me in and fill me up with understanding. Eyes that jumped off the Facebook pages and did a belly flop right into my heart. We are all on the same page you know – no matter our rank, title or shoe size. We all have joys and sorrows, needs and fears, hopes and dreams. And those deep dark haunts we work so hard to hide? Not so scary anymore as other’s hidden sorrows are openly shared with unabashed grace.
Shaklee is a safe place to dwell my friends. It’s not a conclave of the elite with centurions guarding the gate allowing only the privileged few to enter. Nor is it a cult of vitamin addicts building pyramids on each other’s back. We are a bunch of regular folks who are not afraid to dream for a better tomorrow. We are conscious of our environment, protective of our families food sources, and courageous enough to step out on a little faith being our own boss in accomplishing those goals. If entrepreneurship is good enough for Forbes and Warren Buffet, its good enough for us. And yes, Roger Barnett making a One Billion Dollar investment (yes – with a B) is a pretty good indicator of our 60 year stability and long range goals are on the mark. Dang – I wish he was running for President – he’s so sane. Which is probably the reason he’s not running… Back to topic…
No, Shaklee is a group of people who have taken some pretty hard hits in their day but stood up and dusted themselves off, put self pity aside, thwacked a band-aide on their boo-boo’s and got ready to defy another dawn of uncertainty with a smile. It’s a community of fractured yet flawless hearts who have the willingness to live beyond mediocrity for the greater good of humankind. They are a bunch of folk who have the audacity to pave the way for others to come along for the ride as they truly know prosperity encompasses more than wealth – that happiness and health simply cant be hoarded.
Well…the dawn is getting ready shed it’s light on another day. Bombs go off if you must – I’ve got a vacation to enjoy and my Shaklee family here and on Facebook to enjoy it with. We’d love to have you come along next year.
